| It's time to start our 3rd Common Assessment Wha-What! This common assessment is a "mash-up" and you will get to design your own project. What is a mashup? Simply put, it is when you combine two things that you might not otherwise combine for the purpose of making something awesome. For this project, you will pick two art "things" and combine them to make one, awesome artwork. Here are some ideas: -combine 2 art-making methods you liked this year (for example, sewing and painting) -combine 2 themes you liked this year (for example, self-portraits and Celtic art) -combine 2 artists we learned about this year (for example, Picasso and Kandinsky) Here are answers to your questions - Q: Can we work in groups A: Ask me. I need a good reason for group work. No groups over 2 members. Q: Can I use an art method I like but that we haven't done this year? A: Yes. Q: Can I use a special material that we don't have in Art class? A: Yes. (If it is safe and appropriate and you can bring it to class). Q: Can I make clothing and/or make art on clothes? A: Yes. If you can provide the materials AND a note from your parents saying it is okay to make art with those materials! Q: How long do I have to make this awesome-ness? A: 2 weeks How do I start? 1. brainstorm! 2. Write/Type which 2 things you are combining and explain why you want to combine them 3. Make a sketch 4. Color your sketch 5. Give ALL of this to Ms. Z. |
