Welcome to Art! "Developing Critical and Creative Thinking Skills for Compassionate Leaders of the Future."
About the Class Students in grades 6-8 have the opportunity to attend an 18 week course of Art each year.
Students entering 8th grade have the opportunity to take "8th Grade Visual Arts Comprehensive." This is a year-long class for the advanced student. Positive completion of the course earns results in the earning of 1 high school credit for Art.
What Do We Learn? It is the intention of middle school Art to provide students with an introduction to more advanced rendering skills. For the first time for many students, an emphasis is placed upon mastering (not just trying) new techniques. Students study famous artists and world cultures in hopes of providing a well-rounded cultural experience that encourages compassion and critical thinking about the contemporary world. Additionally, Ms. Z. appreciates technology, and incorporates many digital lessons into the curriculum.
About the Teacher Ms. Zschaber (Ms. Z.) teaches all courses of Art at Pine Mountain Middle School. Ms. Z. earned a BFA from The University of Georgia, and a MAT in Art Education and an EdS in Inclusive Education from Kennesaw State University. She is currently working on her EdD in Special Education at Kennesaw State University. She has also helped to break four Guinness World Records.
